Many thanks to Matt and Kristy for their help and hosting and taking many awesome images (I think all but one linked here) :)

And so then in character I got to Shoot All The Things! Bounty Hunters, can’t take them anywhere:

For Balmorra and Belsavis! That is the famous Roxy. So glorious.

And met amazing people:

And stormed the Rebels:

Took over the Imperials:

Took a taxi, er, speeder to Endor:

And eventually was caught and repackaged:

More people shared on Facebook but it is being a pain to deal with but I have been able to get a few shared to my page:

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Michaela-de-Bruce

though they are intersperced with a few rants about the flights back and other projects :)

I still need to harvest in progress photos from a few cameras so will try and do a progress update.

I have just bought more material to redo the chest and back plates, saving up for replacement bodysuit too :)

Oh and in case you didn’t notice, it’s pretty fun in Shae’s shoes. So much fun. Except in the Marriott elevators.

Recharge and reload! All my Bounty Hunter homies will recognise this! (but we are apparently all left handed in game. Or ambidextrous).

So. We have this. And I have a terrific case of the fall overs.

Today I get to glue and hammer snaps into my armour and strapping. Kind of terrified. I may also get sanding and painting the very last of my props.

Above is my costume laid out, minus pressure hose, bodysuit, boots, gloves, balaclava. The light up parts are actually reflective tape as I am unwilling to travel with eletronics other than obviously camera.phone/computer related.

There may be a photo or two to update between now and flying out but probably not.

Shae Vizla from Star Wars: The Old Republic cosplay.

At Melbourne Armageddon. I added the clickthrough to M&K’s original flickr photo :) I also realised I didn’t have this on my Tumblr account anyway :)

Still upgrading the various pieces. So. Much. Sanding. Will need a trip to my local electronic supply store for battery packs.

Shae Vizla watching by ~glittersweet

Apparently I started watching this tumblr without spotting this ;) Again any thanks to Catherine for the photo :) Once again I bullied a photographer to lie on the ground for dramatic effect ;) I did this with my Catwoman costume to Ana a few years ago :)
Just vanity googling, move along. Just cheking to see if my site is still relevant and debating trying to get wordpress installed again.

Fan Girl Friday arrives thanks too Glittersweet and her amazing Shae Vizla Costume, featuring almost 100% original parts, hand crafted expertly by herself, excellent work!

check out more of glittersweet’s work on her personal website and her Deviantart

Oh hey, that’s me :) And I have to say the butt shot was a total joke between myself and the photographer- I don’t really do gratuitous shots but I am an incorrigible butt dancer and had been doing one and well… it was a convention and I was hopped on sugar.

Many thanks to Catherine Scholtz (photos 1 and 3), Ange (butt shot) and Sylvie (photos 2 and 5) for the artistry behind the lense :)

Most is scratch built (direct modeled in fibreglass or sculpted molded and cast) some is from found parts destroyed and reassembled. The only pieces not made in this way were the wig (custom dyed) and boots (it depends on how well I can walk as to what footwear I use :) ). Yeah, forgot to mention I’ve got a degenerative disease that affects my joints and soft tissue (and on ocasion internal organs) so it’s just that little bit hard to actually make stuff. But it’s my bliss, my addiction of choice :)

Currently upgrading the costume to be crisper in detail. And light up :) Slowly saving for Celebration 6 and Dragon Con incidentals as well as the last of the resin and paints and electronics so I can take this costume with me :)

Oh and to see the process behind this costume I have a thread on SWNZ and other places (tdh, therpf, mando mercs) but I’m a proud kiwi so go look there ;)

swtor costuming :)

#swtor #shaevizla just had another outing today :) It went over well enough with a room full of boys (pointed out the Mando lego figure on a poster which helped seal the idea).

But I now am ready to face the next pase: lights and sound. Though my experiences at one Jaycar was on the point of calling to complain about harassment, the New Market folk were all kinds of cool about my Star Wars prop geekery so I’ll be heading there for wire, connectors and anything else needed :)

I have several sets of led Xmas tree lights to pull apart for lights, battery packs and resistors. These are going in the jetpack vents, jet pack sides and belt and ear buds first. I will have to cast the arm displays again and embed the lights (oy) which means a spot of careful layering of resin in to the molds and even more careful soldering of joints!

So I will have to cobble a workstation with little alligator clips and such.

Excited about this though :)

Will also get that under arm display sorted too. Possibly pullling apart a few small photoframes. I may be making a frame from card to build over with resin. I need more anyway for the greave and thighs. Yes once the greave as cast I’ll be building the things too. Just purchase the best tool ever for sculpting with :) a 15cm metal rule. Yep. I have a 50cm and a 30cm and they are amazing but the 15cm is easy to use and shaves so well. Just been tricky to find :)

Oh and I got my airbrush working again :) With a can of air :) For the one off rush project I needed it for (some weathering) I don’t mind paying per can but I will need a portable compressor soon :) The next project to use it is to redo the spray of Shaak Ti’s lekku and Montral. The brown is a bit too brown and being acrylic ink come off with a baby wipe or any alcohol rich cleaner. My plan is for the same urethan paint the bold black markings are from :) That stuff cleans up well if you make a mistake (peels off) which made me worry about long term, but the cure time is closer to a day for full stickability :) If I airbrush with a really thinned product it should be only a day of leaving it all alone :)

I have a swtor post to make as soon as I transfer my screencaps to this computor. I am in love with my current armour. The helmet and colour scheme make me think of Leia whenever I grab a speeder ;) Endor Leia! Without the poncho! Sigh. Yes I want to make that set of armour. It’s a few random bits so I’ll have to check out my character profile.
